Legacy Evershrike deck
This deck is going to be centered around one of the most underrated cards of the latest expansions. Get out with your tarmogoyfs because this beauty is going to kick some seious ass. Why it is so good?
1. It is easy to get it into the grave.
2. It is even easier resurrecting.
3. You can bring it back into play at ANY given point as long as you have an aura. Example: Opponent attacks. You discard the shrike with one of the creatures, then bring it back being at least an 4/4 flyer with an ability.
4. It is uncounterable.
5. It gets fatter and fatter with each aura card.
How does it work? Let's take a look at the deck first:
// Lands
11 [9E] Swamp (1)
4 [ON] Polluted Delta
4 [B] Scrubland
3 [US] Phyrexian Tower
// Creatures
4 [ALA] Tidehollow Sculler
4 [EVE] Evershrike
4 [LRW] Oona's Prowler
4 [RAV] Dark Confidant
4 [TO] Putrid Imp
// Spells
3 [TE] Flickering Ward
4 [TO] Strength of Lunacy
4 [PLC] Vampiric Link
4 [EVE] Edge of the Divinity
4 [U] Dark Ritual
How to play?:
You start by playing a creature that is going to make it possible for you to dump evershrike into the grave (always wait until the last moment so the opponent cant anticipate it) and then put it into play attaching it to an aura card that is in your hand. After filtering the whole magic card database, I can assure you these are the most viable auras there are to play. Nevertheless, you might find yourself having to choose between various auras to bring back Evershrike with. Lets say you have a flickering ward and a vampiric Link. Depending on the color you are playing against you will have to play one before the other. Say that the opponent plays white (most common color for creature removal because of swords to plowshares and path to exile), so you would first bring back the creature with the ward, setting the protection to white and THEN play the vampiric link on it.
Furthermore, let's brifly comment on each aura card to see its functionality:
Flickering ward: Bring back various Evershrikes since you can bounce it back + protection
Strength of lunacy: Pro white, decent powerup, protects Imp+Prowler against white removal and serves as a nice way to alternatively beat your opponent to death without having to recur to Evershrike.
Vampiric Link: Very nice against any kind of aggro deck. Effective as a 1-mana creature stopper
Edge of the divinity: Makes Evershrike a 7/7 beast with flying. It's pretty nice with Tidehollow Sculler, too.
